Remote Network

ADI-diary.NET uses e-mails and Diary Switchboard, that are located on our server to transfer data updates.

The beauty of this system that you can have a connection to any driving school that has similar software. At will, you can connect to or disconnect from any driving school and still keep all your data, software and familiar environment. Even if your driving school does not use ADI-diary.NET, your software will take care of it by formatting the new or updated lesson and pupil details as an e-mail and send it to your driving school.

In theory you can be connected to several driving schools and receive data from each independently. Even separate driving schools can be interconnected.

A Web based database is limited in this respect and does not give you so much flexibility and control over your data. If you decide to leave the driving school and work for yourself, you would lose access to the database and probably will lose some or all of the data that has mounted up over the years.

Using our system the software and data is yours and you are even independent from the Internet. Imagine if you lost Internet connection for a day or two which means that you cannot see your diary.

ADI-diary.NET is free from all of these problems.

The transfer of lessons, pupils details and other relevant information can be between:

  1. Driving school and instructor
  2. Driving school and driving school
  3. Instructor and instructor
  4. To yourself on another computer
  5. Computer and PDA

My Office
This new version allows you to transfer diary updates to yourself. For example: you have more than one computer that you want to run ADI-diary.NET: one at home – where someone takes your bookings – and one in your car or somewhere else in a different location.

Note: If computers are in the same location, it is better to use Server/Client setup

The software uses two methods to transfer diary updates:

  1. E-mail (POP3)
  2. ADI-diary.NET Remote Account.

Instead of e-mails, we highly recommend the use of our Remote Accounts.

E-mails vs Remote Account

E-mailRemote account
Virus can be attached to the e-mailAbsolutely virus free
There are no guarantees that e-mails will arrive in the correct order.

ADI-diary.NET has a mechanism to recognise diary updates that arrive late. If the record has been updated with more recent data, the older e-mail will be rejected.

Guaranteed to arrive in the order of sending
Your e-mail can be sent to the spam box by your providerRemote Accounts are not e-mails, therefore no spam
Sometimes it can be a slow processAlmost instant receipt of diary update
Others could see itHidden from all
Your service provider can impose a limit on the amount of e-mails that you send.

Every alteration of a record requires an e-mail to another computer. Even though ADI-diary.NET has a mechanism to keep e-mails to minimum, they can still mount up especially in a busy driving school.
